Autism Parenting Primer
There’s a lot of information out there about autism. And it’s hard to sort through it all. The Autism Parenting Primer group was designed as a space where parents can learn from both the research and the neurodiversity movement - and walk away with practical skills and ideas that will help their child grow and thrive.
The Autism Parenting Primer group is best suited for parents of young autistic children (~ages 1-7) and may be particularly helpful for families who recently received the diagnosis. As a primer, the group will touch on many different areas, providing a holistic foundation from which parents can then best prioritize where they need more intensive services and supports.

All content is rooted in research and data, so you can feel confident in what you’re learning. We’ll be drawing upon research-backed knowledge in autism and child development more broadly.
❋ Skills-Based
Each session will teach at least one specific and practical parenting strategy. We want you to walk away with some tools in your toolbox.
❋ Neuroaffirming
The group is intentional in including autistic perspectives in the information presented. Our approach aims to build on your child’s unique strengths and interests to support meaningful growth.
❋ Broad-Based
The curriculum gives you the basics on topics related to building social engagement and communication, increasing independence, supporting emotion regulation, sensory differences, and more.
❋ Services and Systems
We’ll spend time discussing services and systems that might be relevant to your child to inform your next steps. From IEPs to Regional Center to ABA, we’ll talk through it all.
❋ Community Building
Connecting with other parents who are on a similar journey is powerful. Parents learn from each other, support each other, and, most importantly, celebrate each other.
